10:00 - 2:30
Final event at Warman High School (Computer Lab). This is the official day of competition. All points, awards etc. are on the line. Good luck!
Each team has a $30 total budget (this is your team fee). You must prove that you have stayed under
your $30 budget by providing receipts for any purchases used in any of the 5 competitions. For
example, you could purchase 2 vehicles for under $30 and use either one for each event. But each team
may only enter one vehicle per event. You may not use 2 vehicles if their total cost (including any addons)
costs more than $30.
For each event: Most ‘Blinged out’ Vehicle:
1st Place = 1000 pts 1st Place = 1000 pts
2nd Place = 800 pts 2nd Place = 800 pts
3rd Place = 600 pts 3rd Place = 600 pts
4th Place = 400 pts
5th Place = 200 pts
Most cost effective:
There will be 400 points awarded in each event for the vehicle that is the most cost effective (it doesn’t
matter where you place). You will need to provide receipts for your vehicle and for any items bought
and used. Recycled items cost nothing, so use them! Without proof (receipts), you will not be able to
claim these points.
The 5 Events:
1) The Sprint –> A 15-meter course that is 1m wide. Pylons are spaced about one meter apart down
each side of the course. This is a timed event. There will 1 second penalty for each pylon hit. This
event is all about speed and staying straight – harder than you think!
2) Endurance -> Each team will be supplied with new AA batteries (your RC vehicle must use only AA
batteries for this event). Your vehicle must drive on a minimum of 4 wheels for this event.
Maximum width of vehicle is 16 inches. Your vehicle will be run at full throttle until the batteries
die. This is timed event where the winner will be calculated by the total Volts used per Minute. This
event is all about efficiency.
3) Heavy Lifting Ramp -> Tow a weight up a ramp from a standing start. The frame of your vehicle
must have a tow point for the weight sled to hook to. The ramp will start at an angle of elevation of
35 degrees. The ramp will be 16 inches wide. Points awarded for the most weight pulled up a
distance of five feet. This event is all about torque (pulling power).
4) Agility -> Move six evenly spaced ping pong balls into a circular corral. The quickest times are
awarded the most points. This event is about driver skill, strategy and mechanical advantage.
5) Sumo Wrestling -> Push each other out of a 10-foot diameter ring. Last one in the ring wins. This is
an elimination event. This event is about driver skill, strategy and mechanical advantage.
There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams. Winning teams will have the most points
accumulated throughout all 5 events!
